ABOUT:
The company was founded in 1906 to make machinery to form gold dental caps. The owner, a man named Jaques, apparently needed a precise measuring tool. He developed a micrometer and received a patent for it in 1915. Eventually the dental machinery part of the business was phased out with the concentration on building micrometers.
Over the years ownership changed hands several times and Central developed a niche in the Automotive Aftermarket concentrating on precision measuring instruments for the professional automotive mechanic.
In late 1992 the company was acquired by Alec Dawson, the current owner and president. During the ensuing years Central has grown and prospered under Dawson's guidance. In mid 1996 Central acquired the assets of New Era Products, a fluorescent work light manufacturer. This open up new markets for Central's products. Central has redesigned most of the lights and added many new models.
Central is the premier supplier of precision measuring tools and work lights to the Automotive Aftermarket.
